Don't let the scale make you feel defeated

There are other ways to notice I'm getting healthy than looking at the number on the scale. My scale number isn't moving, but I feel like I'm loosing weight. It can be frustrating and disappointing after putting in a good week.

All is not lost though, I've noticed that my clothes are fitting looser, my energy level is getting better, and I actually crave water and fruits and veggies. Now I still crave the salty-sweet snacks now and then, but it's much less often than before.

So to look at the positive side, when the scale isn't cooperating, I know that I'm getting healthier and my body is adjusting to my new lifestyle change. It's a work in progress and I just can't give up because of frustration with the scale.

    I completely agree with you! It can be frustrating and discouraging when you don't see the scale move in the right direction! I've learned to not focus on the scale but rather the whole picture of getting healthier instead and NSV's. emoticon

    You are SO correct in this way of thinking! It's hard not to get discouraged when the numbers don't move (or move in the opposite direction!) but the big picture is what is important. I've learned I can only weigh once a week in order to not become overly focused on the scale. Thanks for sharing!

    Great perspective and really awesome to realize that the bottom line isn't just the numbers on the scale! It's about making the lifestyle changes that will ensure long-term success! As we hit the bumps in the road, we need to absorb the shock, make any needed adjustments and keep on driving toward those goals! The scale is not your master and doesn't own your motivation! Just as you've stated, the big picture has a lot more to offer than a promise of numbers being spit out on an agenda each week! You will get there and when you do, you can go in, look at the scale and say, I'm a winning loser and you can't prove otherwise!
