a DIFFERENT kind of Zumba experience

If you read my blog yesterday, you know that I had a less than stellar experience going to a different gym's Zumba class. I am a girl who loves to
and Zumba is my way to let out the wild child inside of me. The class I was in on Tuesday was like Zumba on Ambien. I decided to take yesterday as a rest day rather than go to my favorite class at the 76th & Cass location (one close to the college with a lot of hip-hop flare). But today I went to my other gym close to my house where my regular instructor Lyndsey was teaching.
I get there and no Lyndsey. In her place, a MUCH older woman. I would say late 50's, early 60's. Immediately I get nervous that I am going to have a similar experience to the one I had the other day, I know, I was pre-judging. But honestly, I like my Zumba fast and frisky, hard-thumping and hip-hop heavy.
Class starts and I tell myself to have fun since I am already here and to just modify my moves so that I get the burn that I need. The music starts and it is obvious that the instructor is not a dancer. But what I DID notice off the back was that she had ATTITUDE and I was SOLD! For me, I get excited going to Zumba off of the energy of everyone else around me. I don't care if a person isn't the best dancer, because I am not the best either, but I am an enthusiastic and confident dancer and that is what I want in my instructor and classmates. Well this woman was like the fun aunt who would let you have a beer as long as you drank it with her. She had a pack-a-day smoker's voice and a heavy tan and she would scream out things like, "Oh yeah! Shake your sisters, ladies!!!" I LOVED it!! She even played "The Wobble" which is a huge hip-hop song right now and she had us free-style and I was in heaven. She also played a FUN country song. None of her moves were advanced but I would modify and she would say, "That's right! Whoo! Hoo!" It was a small class with a very different instructor than I was used to but I had a BALL
I don't know what the moral to my story is but I do know Zumba is my shiznit!!!
