Ah There is Only Room For Improvement Thankfully

Thursday, March 21, 2013

Today after work instead of hitting the gym I drove to the park to give it a try of jogging in the great outdoors. Do I have work ahead of me but I can only get better at my pace time emoticon

There is a big difference in jogging on the treadmill and outdoors Treadmill so much easier the machine keeps me at a good pace I usually have ti set to do interval training so I go from 4.5 speed to a 5.1 speed with various inclines. Today at the park very windy uneven ground sun bright & hot.

My first attempt was 36 minutes to do 2.12 miles the Running Calculator

ing%20Calculator.htm

Drum roll please well maybe not pace was set at 16 minutes and 59 seconds and yes most people would just round it up to say disappointingly it was a 17 minute jog/walk , BUT not me It was better then a 17 minute mile emoticon

I am not disappointed in myself I did good- thought I'd die today but I kept chugging along to finish my workout. I will improve that number I can only get better at it emoticon I can do it!

Any pace is better than no pace. And you are so right about the difference in outside and treadmill. And with the weather warming up that adds another layer of difficulty. You did awesome!

Maybe I should do the opposite and try a treadmill! I've been doing all my walking and walk-jog workouts outdoors. :D

Fantastic! There is no comparison between a treadmill which cushions you somewhat as well as providing a smooth surface and the hard, unforgiving ground outside. Good on you to try it! I for one, cannot tolerate doing anything on paved paths, sidewalks or roads as I feel it in my joints right away in a not very pleasant manner. If you feel good with it, more power to you and good luck at (slowly and carefully listening to your body) improving your pace times!!
Have a wonderful weekend!

It is so different to jog / run on the road or in a park compared to running on the treadmill but oh so good. Congratulations and remember that whenyou run outdoors you are also using the small stabalizing muscles in the ankles and foot. emoticon

emoticon emoticon emoticon on getting outside and taking it up a notch. Doing anything outside is much different than the controlled atmosphere of the gym. Good for you for taking your exercise outside and mixing things up!

Dont you find it invigorating to be outside. I prefer outside to a treadmill that is for sure. Keep on keeping on and you will be amazed at how much you can improve.
