The winter has stolen my mojo

'What winter?' I hear you say, 'It's spring!'

Hah. Not in the UK it isn't. We were promised 10C (50F) this weekend and I made plans to go away, and instead it's absolutely appendage-freezing, and the forecast is down to 2C for Saturday. 2C is 2C above 0C which is freezing in Cs.

So I was planning all kinds of things for the weekend including being very careful about what I eat and taking plenty of exercise and instead it's going to be the brr brr brr again.

I've been making bargains with the weather for weeks now (if it's warm I'll be good all week AND I'll go to the gym at the weekend AND I'll even groom the cats). It has only been warm once, so I haven't been good all week, not for several weeks.

Please please please can someone fix the weather? I'm really tired of itching everywhere because my skin has been dried out by the cold, and I wore my new frock at work today and it looks fab but my coat is so loose that the wind whistles right up it and freezes my doings. All these hikes I'm going on now, all I can think is 'this will look gorgeous in the spring'. It should BE spring, it officially starts today, and it's still SNOWING.

Is that the wind howling round the building, or is it the wailing of a desperate SparkPerson?

It is even colder in Michigan, more snow storms predicted for next week. I am tired of it. The only good thing is I can get some outside exercise in by shoveling snow. Hang in there, it has to get warmer at some point.

2 suggestions, thermal undies and a new coat! I have been wearing a fleece under my pink waterproof because it's too big now. Might have to invest in a cotton traders "windermere" to make sure it's proper rain proof not silly showerproof.
I don't remember such a long cold spell and 3 pairs of gloves does seem a bit OTT but necessary on the beach most days. I suppose it's noticeable because I'm walking not driving everywhere.
See y'soon

We keep getting tantalized by signs of spring, then WHAMMO - it turns cold again.

Like this morning.

well, here in Buffalo, NY it is currently -3C and getting lower. our high temperature for tomorrow is 1C. 1C! that's Arctic - north Pole weather! everyday around 4PM, a "light snow" falls on and off throughout the night. Of course, it was sunny/cloudy all during the day, but never nice with moon and stars visible here - only clouds! It's nice that you can still hike. I have asthma and that is off limits during the winter, so, like you, I can't wait for spring!

Hope it warms up near you. SOMEONE deserves to have warmer Spring weather SOMEWHERE, even if it isn't here!
First day of spring was 24F here near Chicago. That's -5C if I calculated correctly. Last year the first day of spring was 85F! It was in the 80s for a week. Of course, we were all probably complaining about the heat that week as well, but I too am tired of all the dreary gray days and cold weather. And I checked and this March HAS been colder than normal with more overcast days than normal too, so it isn't just my imagination.

first day of Spring yesterday was monsoon rains and wind. Today was cloudy, then the sun came out for a little while, then the angry clouds arrived and we got a heavy snow fall for about a half hour. Now the sun is out again at 6pm. Freezing temps (32 F) at night. The northern parts of western Washington got a lot of snow and many had to chain up just to get home from work. Unusual weather for us to be sure. They are promising warmer weather next week. I have to see it to believe it.

Same here! Tonight our temperature is dropping to 20 F (-6.7 C), which is nowhere near springtime temps. And spring was welcomed in here by snowfall this morning. Brrrr! Enough already!

Frozen doings, eh? Sounds downright unpleasant...

I know what you mean: I'm sitting at my computer with my pseudo-down jacket on over my woolly jumper and thermal base layer 'cos it's COLD despite the heating being on.

However, my definition of Spring includes the possibility of snow, so I can still claim that it's Spring even with the current temperatures.

Look for the daffodils!

I'll add my 2 cents worth - here in So. Central Pennsylvania, USA, it's a good 10-15 degrees colder than it's supposed to be. "Normal" temps don't exist any more. And yes, it's not the wind - it's the collective howling of many a Sparker! Right now it's freezing, I mean literally. It's 32 degrees F.
