Oh, NOOOOoooooo!

Thursday, March 21, 2013

Today I had the basal cell carcinoma removed - a mild form of skin cancer. It was on my left temple, and so the numbing medication prior to the surgery affected my eyebrow. I was amused that I could now do a Spock impersonation. Here it is for YOUR amusement.

After getting stutched up I was given instructions for wound care. "No bending/heavy lifting for one week." Okay...I guess I won't be doing the wieghts...But the verbal instructions were "Don't do any exercise." I asked, "What about my stationary bike???" I was answered, "No, we don't want anything to get your blood pressure up that could make the wound bleed." NOOOOooooo! emoticon A whole week! I hope the weather is mild enough that the sidewalks remain clear so I can at least walk to work. I am looking at a probable weight gain. Poop.

Wishing you a speedy recovery! Glad to hear that the skin cancer was caught early and removed. Yeah, I hear that the hairline is a common place where skin cancer crops up as it can be hard to rub in sunblock there. I live in Arizona -- which has the world's second highest skin cancer rate, second only to Australia.

I used to go out in the sun all the time unprotected, but now I feel almost naked without my wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses.
