healthy = good

I watched a video today with 2 ladies talking about healthier living. They were talking about symptoms of low energy....and I didn't even put together that anxiety, depression, mood swings, etc were on that list. I should have known. When I work out...I feel better. I feel energized, happy. The opposite of stress and anxiety. Just goes to show you that not only is exercise good for the heart and to keep your waistline in check....it's good for your emotional health as well!
I have been working on not only revitalizing my own life this time...but also the life of my family. My kids need healthy meals....so does my hubby. My kids also need exercise. So the other day I was doing a cardio bootcamp and my son began criticizing my technique. They were doing 3 squats then a jump. I did 3 squats and then held the squat. I am avoiding stressing my knees. I told him if he thought he could do it better....he was welcome to join me. And guess what....he did. He was huffing and puffing and doing his own version of bootcamp. He is only 6 after all.
My teenage daughter and I tried a zumba video Sunday night....let me tell you....me dancing is not a pretty thing. I am glad this was done in the privacy of my living room instead of out in public. LOL We had a great time laughing at our lack of coordination and some of our original non-flavorful moves. :) Which for you moms and dads out there.....my daughter is 15 and we laughed together. Score!
Food wise, I am really proud of how I have been doing. I have really been focusing on eating cleaner and choosing veggies and fruits instead of the carbs I crave. The asian soup I made (posted the recipe 2 days ago) was super yummy and full of veggies. It was even better the next day! I already bought the ingredients to make it again.
So parents out there....what are your favorite healthy meals to serve your family?
