I came home to a notice from the landlord last night that they're inspecting the place today. It's not just me -- they're conducting what they call "annual inspections" of all the apartments. Mind you, I've lived here three and a half years and this is the first "annual" inspection in all that time. Whatever -- they call it a 24-hour notice but by law they can say that they stuck the notice on the door at 9AM and if you didn't see it until 6 PM because you were at work, it's not their problem. So I hauled tail last night and this morning to get the place ready. Right now I'd love to take a shower but I don't dare because as sure as I do, they'll show up at that exact moment. So I have to wait until they're gone.
However, the up-side is that the place is at least mostly clean (we shall discuss the state of the bedroom closet later). And I'm getting in some quality knitting time on the afghan I'm working on.
(Update -- they just left. They were here a grand total of ninety seconds, checked the batteries in the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and left.)
Okay, so now I have a mostly clean home and the inspection is over and I don't have to worry about it any more. But I'm exhausted from the work I did, which is more exertion than I'm used to. But at least I actually have the dining room blinds open.
