As I posted in my last blog, a new habit for me has been MOM ( mind over matter ), in areas of my life that need improvement.
Since starting on my journey with SP, my philosophy has pretty much remained the same. It has served me well, and so, I try to impart this wisdom with other SP members; track your food and fitness daily, run and read the reports, make small changes for improvements.
As a part of our winter to spring 8 week challenge, I started the "Caveman" diet. The overall goal is to eat all clean foods. Fruits, vegetables. unprocessed meats, eggs, spices and nuts are the staples of the diet. Pretty radical dietary changes which I am positive I would have scoffed at as crazy before now. My DH, Dave, has enthusiastically "played along" and so far has been fun and successful. We played "survivor caveman" for about a week, which saw our diet expand to beans and rice and everything nice, but other than that have stayed close. Being the multi-tasking cave woman I am, hehe, I have discovered, maple syrup and wheat flour, so we indulge in the occasional pancake.
More important, we have employed MOM on many fronts to aide in our challenge:
In the past 10 days we have resisted all alcohol ( not part of the caveman regimen ) thanks MOM!
We had company ( two of our good friends, and Dave's hunting and fishing buds ) for five days. I stayed in calorie range every day,(thanks again, MOM) and probably “blew their minds” on how many veggies could eaten on a daily basis. I heard no complaints as they feasted on salmon, chicken, elk meat and the like. I really had to have MOM's help when I hurt my knee and had to shift gears on my work out routines. Thankfully, I am now fully recovered and slowly increasing my intensities. Woo Hoo! MOM has helped me personally to stay on task with spring cleaning. Dianedoessmiles and the other dawggies who are decluttering got the ball rolling. Thank you!!!
My goal for the next four weeks is to keep MOM close at all times. I know we can reach our goals, have a blast doing so, learn to love new foods , and feel better than ever!
To summarize, if my Spark Journey were a drive through life, and my small changes are the pit stops, MOM has helped me to get a major “overhaul” during this challenge.
CAN’T SPELL CHALLENGE WITHOUT CHANGE!!!
