There are so few things I can control...

Thursday, March 21, 2013

I realized something important the other day. There are very few things I can control in my life. Two of the only things I can control are directly related to my health: what I eat and how much exercise I do. I also realized that I have no direct control over what the scale says (some indirect control based on food and exercise, but no direct control), so I am trying to simply document the numbers the scale says without really caring about them, if that makes sense.

Great post Colette! Many people stress over things they can't control and that is unfortunate...So glad you have come to this realization. emoticon emoticon

I so need to get into the same frame of mind! I need to not worry about that scale and start focusing on how I feel... but I truly felt and looked horrible when I got on the scale Monday. I was swollen and puffy and even my wrists were swollen (they are how I guage the intensity of my bloating and lactic acid in my body every day... don't know why. I just know my fingers overlap when I am not bloated and only barely touch or don't touch at all when I am swollen.

My doc keeps telling me that when I work out, my body sends fluids to my extremities and if I don't properly stretch out and cool down, this fluid builds up and with the anemia and arthritis, I have to be careful for it.

So if I wake up and can get my fingers to overlap, I am having a good day! LOL
So I am going to take a page out of your book and just record the dang numbers and know that my scale is a mean skinny girl who's trying to make me feel badly! LOL

That does make sense! A scale doesn't determine your overall health! Just keep making those healthy choices and you will win!
