Well, I haven't been on here to blog lately, but I am still working hard. I have not let my health quest fall to the side. I have come to realize that I cannot lose 1-2 lbs per week while keeping up with my job, though. I am the only teacher in grades 6-12 for music, so I have 7 performing ensembles that I have to keep up with. This week is contest week...so today I took the concert band, tomorrow I take the choir, and then Friday I take my soloists and small ensembles. We have been so insanely busy this past month...jazz festivals, concert band festivals, guests coming to work with the groups at school. It's such an exciting job, even if it is exhausting at times. A true labor of love...and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I have not been up every morning working out like I was in January. On days that I have performances or days after an 18 hour jazz festival day, I have to give myself a break from the physical side of things. I do alright with my eating. I am trying to remember that moderation is the key and to not completely deprive myself of the things that I love. So far it is working. I have lost 5 lbs since school has started back up, and kept it off. These stressful times around contest usually get me, but I am trying to take better care of myself mentally to keep from binging on junk food. I've actually been down another pound this week, but we'll see what the scale says come Friday. It's moved back and forth a few times.
I really am looking forward to getting some more workout time in next week. I need to get my sit-ups and push-ups going for the PT test this summer. Show choir will be starting soon, too! We are doing "Phantom of the Opera" this year...so that will be an hour of dancing most days that will most certainly help. :-)
Hope cabin fever isn't killing too many people. I know I am ready for the warm weather!
