So, what I thought was going to be a fairly routine follow up look at blood work with the endocrinologist didn't turn out to be quite so routine. She was happy with glucose and cholesterol, but didn't like the high TSH. Before she did anything else, she wanted to repeat that test, and just to be on the safe side, ordered an ultrasound of my thyroid. She sent me straight to the lab, the lab promised the results by 4pm, which would barely give me time to get back to the dr office. The ultrasound found a rather large nodule on my thyroid. Back to the dr, where she ordered a biopsy and sent me straight to the lab (4th time in one day) to set an appointment. They wanted me back by 8 this morning. So, we made the two hour drive home last night, arriving about 8:30pm (we had left home at 6am), and left again this morning before 6. The biopsy was done, and should be ready by 4 on Monday. Since that is the beginning of Holy Week, which is the biggest vacation week of the year here, it remains to be seen if I will get in to see the doctor next week or not.
I am ever so thankful for two doctors who care enough not to be content with just looking at numbers, but want to figure out the causes of those numbers. Slowly we are unraveling a knot of health issues. The Lord alone knows where it will all end up, but He is in control and that is enough.
BTW...while we were waiting for the lab results yesterday, we went to Sears, where we found a set of 10 pound and a set of 15 pound dumbbells!
