So my college just offered a yoga class that meets on Wednesdays now. I've come to really enjoy yoga since I first "discovered" it thanks to the Wii Fit, and even more so over Spring Break, when I needed workouts to do in my teeny tiny room. So when I heard of this class I was totally excited! Now, I did have a few reservations. I'm not into the spiritual aspect of yoga. The concepts of "energy", or "chi" or "chakra" do not at all align with my personal spiritual beliefs. I'm not (completely) ignorant of these beliefs, but I just don't care to have them impressing upon my own. In other words, I am very firm in my faith. But I went anyway, not knowing what to expect, and it was fantastic! Thankfully, the instructor does not work from a spiritual aspect, and I surprisingly worked up a pretty good sweat in the thirty minutes I was there (though, I think that was mostly due to the heat in the gym being on...)! Other than my back being sore from my own poor posture, I feel quite energized, but at the same time, relaxed. However, I will most definitely be investing in my own yoga equipment. I could tell that I certainly wasn't the first person on that yoga mat!
