Hey Hey Sparkies...
So last blog I laid it on you and told you about all the change that's happening in my life. Now I've had about a 1 1/2 weeks to settle in, and I'm happy to report I'm still on cloud nine.
I ended up landing that huge promotion at work. Things could not be better. My boss is super cool and is letting me work 4 10-hour days so I have Mondays off now and get to enjoy a 3 day weekend all the time. Bonus, T (my new man) has Mondays off too! Even on weekends when his kids come in town, we'll still have Monday as OUR day.
The job I took is at the company's huge HQ campus. I went from working in an office with 5 other people to working with 3,000 other people! I have to wear a badge and swipe in and out of doors and stuff... I feel really important. They've got a full-out gym downstairs, and I went for the first time this afternoon. I ate at my desk around noon, then took my hour break at 3:30 and hopped on their crazy spaceship treadmills. I have to say, I feel fantastic right now! Previously afternoons and driving home made me so cranky and sleepy because I was sedentary for so many hours by that point. If I keep using my break to be active, I think I can nip the afternoon slump in the bud. Spring temps haven't hit me up here yet, but when it warms up I can totally see myself running the mile trail they have outside. I'm so excited about it! The commute did NOT improve with the move. In Georgia I was doing 32 miles, 1 to 1.5 hours each way. Now I'm doing 65 miles 1.5-2 hours each way. But, with only working 4 days a week, I'll take it!
I brought my stability ball that I use as a desk chair with me. Every day I get at least 20 comments on it since I sit in a high-traffic zone, but it's all been good. People ask about the benefits and I get a chance to talk to them about it and also introduce myself, so that's been cool.
I was pretty nervous about cooking for T, but he's gobbled up everything I've made him. He's one of those Crossfit elitists that proscribes to that Paleo nonsense. However, he's been so flexible with me and I really appreciate that. He let me make him enchiladas with corn tortillas and he even put a dollop of sour cream on top. Maybe I'll break him of that nasty high-cholesterol diet after all. It surprises me how sheltered he is when it comes to food. For instance he'd never had an avocado before he met me.
Well, the cleaning lady has just turned the lights out on me so I better shut down... Spark on!
