I get my fair share of aches and pains from running (shins, ankle, knee, hip)... nothing serious, and usually not in the same spot each time... but it happens. One acronym that is very familiar to runners is R.I.C.E. (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation); I have been using ice packs and ace bandages... which are GREAT, but I have discovered a few great new tools for post-run recovery...

It really helps!!!! I just roll it onto whatever hurts, and wrap it up with an ace bandage. It's a great cooling sensation and instantly soothes whatever is irritated. Plus, it smells good and has great ingredients.

The Cryocup. You just freeze it, then massage it onto whatever hurts (hello, shins!). It's cheap, and you don't waste freezer space on bulky ice packs. I always put mine in a heavy-duty ziplock bag to avoid the ice melting all over my couch, lol.
