Broken Scale, Mid-Week Check-In, Cookies and an NSV!

Wednesday, March 20, 2013

My scale is broken -- boo!

We got it as a wedding present almost five years ago. It is a nice digital scale that balances on four little feet. One of the feet snapped off. I've been using it still but it is clearly compromised.

I'm a bit bummed because this scale weighed me really close to the scale at my doctor's office so I could be reasonably assured of it's accuracy.

Tonight, we're going to pick up another, hopefully it will work out. Any suggestions?

By the by, my dentist's appointment went really well yesterday! Though there is definite work to be done, I felt really good knowing I was addressing the matter head on rather than hiding from it.

So far, the week has been going well for me. I've been doing well with nutrition, exercise and water. I even made "cookies."

Well, cookies is a stretch but I found a recipe on the eating clean website for "Two Ingredient Cookies." The only ingredients are two ripe bananas and a cup of quick oats. Mix 'em together, roll 'em into little balls and into the oven at 350 for 15 minutes!

The finished result is vaguely cookie like, lol, enough to scratch that itch, with no added sugar or fat, no gluten and they are vegan, too!

I hope to experiment more with these kinds of recipes so I can still get the enjoyment of baking without compromising my health goals.

Edited to add also: Forgot to mention another NSV today. Wearing my smallest suit today, a regular size 16 which is a bit loose! When I first started suit shopping in 2009, I was in 18W! 18W>16W>14W>18>16> That is a big difference! Suits are always a tough buy for me due to my, ahem, ample bosom so this is aweosme, can't wait til I wear a 14 or 12 in suits and then I'll be able to shop for them wherever I want! I did try a size 14 Banana Republic suit recently and it fit, but was a bit tight, almost there!

Thanks for the recipe!! I'm working on my baking habit as well, lol.

Great job on the NSV! Work that suit honey, til it don't fit no more!

Good luck on the scale search!

You are doing great!

The recipe looks good - I'll try it as soon as I pick up quick cooking oats

After finally realizing I was fooling myself with my old scale (I think you were kind enough to comment on those blog posts), we ended up buying this one (EatSmart Precision GetFit Digital Body Fat Scale):

I'm really happy with it (well, as happy as I can be with the numbers so much higher than the previous scale - the reality was a bit harsh).

Your changes in sizes is VERY impressive! Good for you!

Awesome NSV on the suit! Don't need a scale to know you are doing awesome!

Yippee! about getting into your suit again.

I have no recommendations for a new scale, but whatever you buy can't be too far off. It sounds like you consider the doctor's scale as the official, accurate one. Your home scale can serve to measure consistency of weight loss.

Have you ever tried Land's End suits? I am also...ahem...ample and they tend to fit me well.

Right now all of my excess weight is in the belly, so I still can't wear the Title 9 tankinis that I covet in spite of being a 10/12 pant size. Just not enough coverage. Grrr.

Well congratulations on the suit size! That is awesome! Those cookies definitely sound different, but bananas and oats are both excellent, so mix 'em together and voila :) I might have to give that a try. Sorry about the scale...hopefully you'll find another one that is pretty accurate. Best of luck to you!

Those cookies sound interesting. I'll let my daughter know for her family who have gluten, dairy, egg and a whole bunch more allergies. Could you send me the link for them?
