Motivationally speaking

I like accessories.

Yep, I enjoy buying all the things getting ready for activities.

However, when you spend money on a heart rate monitor, new shoes, and books about running you need to start putting your money where your mouth is. Or something where your money used to be since you just spent it on stuff you should be using.

At 31, I realize that the metabolism crawl (not nearly as fun as the watermelon crawl) of 40 is approaching.

At 30 I returned to school, wanting to retired from my current field, but yet remain taking care of patients and doing something medical. I dumped the jerk off I was with, leaving most of my stuff behind, moved to new town, signed up for classes, worked fulltime and then some, worked on getting a kick ass GPA and now I am looking at transferring to a medical university and go into community health.

Kinda lofty goals at times. Kind of overwhelming. My own health, in the mean time, has been put on the back burner. I take care of patients every work day with various medical conditions exacerbated by their level of fitness.

I don't want to let that happen. So I signed up for a 5k, and have spent the last 3 weeks running. Ok its more waddling as John the Penguin would put it. BUT I am there 3-4 mornings a week on a treadmill, than a bike, followed by a shower (am I the only germaphobe that wears shoes when using the locker room showers????) and than go to classes, eat my protein bar, drink my decaf coffee (uggh sacrilege, but with tmj disorder caffeine makes it worse), water and then I go home or to work, squeezing in tying myself into knots learning yoga 2 days a week.

I had heard of sparkpeople and decided to give it a try, for the days when motivation is lagging.

SCHEDULE FOR REST OF WEEK:

THURSDAY -- TREADMILL 7 AM AT GYM, 1/2 HOUR
BIKE 1/2 HOUR AFTER
(THEN CLASSES OF COURSE)
FRIDAY -- TREADMILL 7 AM AT GYM, 1/2 HOUR
BIKE 1/2 HOUR AFTER
(GO VISIT WITH COUSIN IN FROM CALIFORNIA)
CANDLELIGHT YOGA
SATURDAY -- WORK A 24 HR SHIFT
SUNDAY -- GET OFF WORK, IF BUSY SHIFT SLEEP
IF NOT, ATLETICA WT LIFTING VIDEO
GO BACK TO WORK FOR OVERNIGHT SHIFT AT 7P

(Seeing it in print will hopefully encourage me to follow through :P )

    You will find that SP is great for both when you are motivated and lacking in motivation. The more you put into it the more you get out of it. Glad you found it. You have a hefty schedule but you will find it is nice to go a Spark just for a break.

    24 hour shifts...wow. how do you do that?
