Welcome to the first calendar day of spring!

Wednesday, March 20, 2013

Today is one of the coldest first day of spring in record, It's snowing around all the Great Lakes. I'm starting to wonder is spring will ever come or if it'll just get skipped over again like it has in some other years.

Spring is my favorite time of year, the snow is melting, the birds are singing and the mosquitoes haven't made their entrance yet. The weather is nice enough to open windows, neither heat nor a/c is needed. Dust that has been settling all winter long can be pushed out the door. Gardens can start to be planted.

But this year, none of that is looking like it will be here soon. It seems like we've had 5 months of snow. Some years we can have half a year of snow.

Colds have been lingering everywhere, I know I'm not feeling grand with an earache in the other ear and something that may have been brought on by the antibiotics that probably didn't work anyhow. The husband is still coughing, but the kids are fortunately not looking sick right now and *crossing fingers* won't be sick next week either so my mother, who had eyeball surgery earlier this week to get rid of eyeball puckering, can watch them one day next week so us parents can go to their conferences.

I had no energy yesterday, but today I have plenty so I'll be going up to the school, even though I really do have plenty of out today with illness and cold, because I really want to finish a book we've been working on since December! I'm still wavering a little, but the sun is shining and the breeze wasn't that bad, so I think I'll make my way up there and if anything I can have the husband pick us up at the end of the day if I don't feel like walking home. It's one of those days I wish we had two cars, that will have to be a goal of ours, to be a two car family again.

Even if you can't get outside today, make sure to make your health a priority. Be sure to eat well and do some indoor exercise, even if it's just cleaning the house.

My favorite season! I am eager for the longer and warmer days, as well.
I hope you're on the road to recovery. This has really been the flu and cold season to top all others. Take care! And hopefully your parent conferences go well. I have five more tomorrow and then can start the weekend!

It is double cruel to have one of the coldest spring starts the year after the warmest ever recorded spring start! emoticon emoticon

I think I'll just hibernate for the next month. emoticon emoticon emoticon

This late spring is making me want to hibernate. Sorry to hear that you're ill.

Sorry to hear it's still very cold in the Midwest! If anything, we're gearing up for a hot summer in Phoenix, AZ (since spring is so short here). emoticon

Wishing you well! :)

It was 14 degrees this morning and a high of 34!
After several years of early warm springs, this year the winter is
hanging on with winds from Canada keeping us 10-20 degrees
colder than normal in Iowa. It was bound to happen I guess.

Spring and fall are my favorite seasons. Lots of time outdoors and less extremes of weather. And in solid, complete and unanimous agreement with you; no mosquitoes!

Hope you all shake the cold and colds soon.

I also love Spring. I hate the fridig temps of winter and heat of summer. I love moderation. It can get very windy here in the spring and so far we're not seeing much of it. Of course, today is only the 1st day and we've got to let the weather rev up a bit.

Hope you all are getting better. Have a great day at school and I hope your Mom is well enough to help with conferences. emoticon

I love spring too-the more active I get the more I wish I lived somewhere that winter was much shorter. It is cold here today as well-no snow yet but they were calling for it. Glad you got good energy today-sure helps get the day started in the right direction. 2 cars-we were 1 car for a long time-driving hubby to work etc... sometimes 1 hour away. Only a few years ago we got 2 cars & it's been wonderful-now just hoping his work car last a few more years-always something breaking on it now-getting old & rusty.
Wishing you an awesome day~! ((HUGS))
