Weigh in day!

Wednesday, March 20, 2013

Remember what it was like when you were a kid on Yule Eve? The anticipation you felt waiting for those bright colored packages wrapped up in bows was almost more fun than opening the gifts themselves! That was me this morning getting on the scale and taking my measurements. Because it was week one, I had anticipated a little greater than the 2 pound weight loss, but I lost 6 pounds! Oh yeah, HAPPY DANCE! I lost 2 inches from my waist, 1 inch from my hips, 1/2 an inch from my neck and 1 inch from my chest! I'd say week one was a total success!

A co-worker is having her birthday today, another co-worker brought powdered sugar donuts. I was offered one and declined! I gave her a salute with my meal replacement shake.

Mini goals for this week:

1. Stay on track with meal plans and exercise
2. Increase exercise time to a minimum of 15 minutes
3. Remember this!

The best thing about weigh in day is it gives you an "I CAN DO THIS" attitude. I feel well. I feel strong. I feel optimistic!

Thanks for reading! Copy that on sharing the experience with other dispatchers. When I started in my profession 13 years ago, I was 153 pounds. That weight has increased exponentially each year until I found myself this year at 213 pounds! That's 4.6 pounds a year!!!! WTH?!?!?! Oh, it could be that I sit for 10 hours a day for a minimum of 40 hours a week, and the past few months it's been 60 hour week. Throw in rotating shifts and you have a recipe for weight gain!

I'm lucky in that we have a mini fitness challenge going on in our Communication Center. Our Director is getting his Post Certification and has lost a total of 40 pounds. Our Supervisor went on an improvised diet and has lost 20 not to be left out, the dispatchers are following suit.

The 2 shakes a day had me in a panic as well, but the only day I really struggled was day one. I get a snack after all three meals as well so I actually feel like I'm eating all day. Once I drop down to 190, my protein level is reduced and I'll have to adjust my snacks to reflect that. Bah...I've got time!

I will follow your blog as well. I look forward to watching your progress and supporting you in any way that I can!

CONGRATULATIONS!! That is an awesome 1st week loss!! Well done for sticking with it. Week two will be easier I am sure. I admire your willpower. No way could I make do with 2 shakes and a small meal. I need three meals and at least one snack to make it through a day.

I am adding your blog to my follow list. I love seeing how another dispatcher is doing in her own battle against the dreaded Dispatch Spread!
