Food Deals

Wednesday, March 20, 2013

The weather around my area is driving me nuts because one day I can wear short sleeved shirts and no coat and then the following day it's coat and sweater time. Today is the first day of spring and it's not feeling like spring in the south, LOL.

My daughter and I had an appt. yesterday at the doctor's office (just a check-up) and we went to Wal-Mart afterwards to grab a few healthy items since I had the Aldi's sales flyer with me and yesterday was the last day of their sale for things I wanted.

I price matched some white grapes for 99 cents a pound and also bought two 1-pound packages of carrots for 69 cents a bag (baby carrots)!

I got lots of great deals the other day at the local mom and pop grocery store in my town including a huge bag full of name-brand energy bars such as Luna and Cliff Bars for $1.99 each. There were probably 17-20 bars in each bag, so definitely a great deal! emoticon

I also stopped by my local discount bread store and stocked up on whole wheat bagel thins (my favorite bread) and got 6 different bags for less than $1 each!

The Dollar Tree store had some boxes of Health Valley fruit yogurt smoothie for $1 that I stocked up on since my son loved them and they are very portable.

Believe it or not, the Dollar Tree actually carries Nature's Own bread products (at least at mine). Also the thrift stores (Good Will) do as well although they are $1.39 there instead of $1 at Dollar Tree.

I can't wait until we have an Aldi's nearby to shop there or price match at Walmart. :) Oh, and haven't found a bread store here, so have had to suffer with the Lender's bagels for $1.49 each. Bread, getting day old store bread is about as cheap and about as good at least. English muffins they were $1, but now more like $1.50, unless I like the Walmart variety I bought recently but haven't tried yet.
