Getting Back on Track

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

I'm gettin' stronger, the virus is gettin' weaker, but am still trying to stay out of circulation & away from people as much as possible, figuring I'm still contagious. No mall walking, no walking to Mass, no walking to the library, no walking to prayer blanket ministry...............just plain early morning walking outdoors around the neighborhood where I'm not going to give this bug to anyone else.

It's colllllllld outside! But Spring is coming! Can hardly wait to get the houseplants outdoors for some great fresh air! The plants have to be waitin' for it too, I know they are. But they're succulents, so it'll be awhile until it's warm emough. Snow all gone but boy oh boy the windchills this week.

Spent large chunk of the day catering to the sansevierias. Got all of them thoroughly watered, but no fertilizer used as yet, it's too early in the year, will begin fertilizing with the April watering. Also cut off quite a few flower stalks coming up. Too many sans species have flowers that have such strong sickening sweet smells if the flowers open indoors and I can't open a window or three.

The poor S. dooneri was tryin' to break out of it's pot, demanding more space space space. It had spent the winter deciding to grow grow grow.

Photo is of the Sansevieria dooneri when I took it out of its old pot. Nice healthy large tubers, nice large set of roots. I'm sure it felt fantastic to get into its new pot.

Also spent a large chunk of the day on pen pal correspondence for prison ministry work. And this week, I want to concentrate on getting some Mother's Day cards made for the prison ministry group to send out to inmates who are moms. It's tough getting creative when there are so many restrictions on what inmates are allowed to receive.

Discovered a new exercise -- hula hooping! Ordered one off etsy. Never could do it as a kid, tho, and can't say as I'm any less of a klutz now, but I'm hoping it'll be fun.

I tried hula hooping as well and I'm TERRIBLE! My DH's 13 year old son absolutely schools me on it and even can hula hoop around his neck (the little brat! haha). I think it's a fun fitness too, though. Keep at it an keep us posted on your progress!

As for your plants - I'm envious of your green thumb! That's something that I want to get better at this year. You've inspired me!

Keep after the nutrition and fitness. Small steps. Work on consistency.

You can do it.
