Realizing I'm not working hard enough

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

Well Dani won the whole thing on The Biggest Loser. If you watched you saw a hugh transformation in that girl (and all of them really) but Dani was exceptional. She put on 19 pounds of lean muscle. Just think how that lean muscle is just chewing up the calories in her body!!

As I was watching and they were showing the early workouts and then the later ones I realized that this weight loss wasn't the magic of TV. It was the result of damn hard work. They had the trainers pushing them or perhaps none of them would have had nearly, if any, of the success they did. Then I saw the difference in Dani's workouts - she was just killing it at the end with leg kicks and things she couldn't even do in her dreams - yet she had inside her and Jillian got it out of her. We need to be our own Jillian's and get the most out of us.

I don't have a trainer and the one I did have tried to push me but I wasn't having it!! On Biggest Loser the trainers are in charge - in my gym the customer is in charge and the trainers will only work us as hard as we are willing to work.

I have chosen not to work as hard as I need to but I started the change today. I pushed myself with harder steps on the stair master, higher incline and more speed on the treadmill and more weights. At the end of the workout I was almost ready to throw up and I think that is the level I'm going to try to get to in future workouts.

No more of spending an hour at the gym strolling on the treadmill. I'm there to work!!

Now I just need to get the Spandex Nazi like Travelgrrl talks about for my cardio!!

Make good things happen for you today!!

    Great thoughts!
Danni was an inspiration for me too. One thing that Jillian asked Danni was if she wanted it ... and why she wanted it.
Lately I have been contemplating my reasons for exercise. Working hard is one thing, but what are you working toward? The motivation is what seemed to propel the contestants.

    How about a TShirt-N-Sweats Nazi?

.....that's you, Vandal!
Like you said, you are pushing yourself.

You have caught the vision now, just keep going!

I liked the ending on this season. The hard work of the winners paid off for them.

Ha! My Spandex Nazi QUIT and in her place we got two more who trade off the class -- and both of them are WORSE!

Does your gym have classes? TC, me, and almost every person in our classes say we would never, NEVER, ***N*E*V*E*R*** work as hard on our own as we do in those classes!

Today we were told we were going to "burn out" our muscles, and BURN OUT we did! 64 reps of everything.

It is true that as our bodies adapt we need to continue on to the next level. Keep pushing!!!

PS - I am glad to have you back!!!!

I agree I have been a little lazy at the gym and need to push more. Good luck!
