Last year I gained more then 20 pounds. I wondered how and why I gained that. I thought I wasn't doing so bad. I have been trying to lose weight since October and wondering why I wasn't losing any, I was starting to think there was something wrong with me. I started saying I probably have issues with my thyroid. There is something wrong with me, I wasn't seeing what was really happening. I wasn't making enough changes to lose weight.



I recently started tracking my calories and what I saw was shocking. I was eating like 2800 calories each day, I probably leave out a lot of stuff too. To be realistic I eat more then 3000 calories a day. It might sound like an excuse but I had NO IDEA. I can't even imagine how many calories I was eating before I started my so called diet lol No wonder I gained so much weight.



Aside from all those calories I eat daily, I don't excercise, I just can't get into the habit again. I try, I suscribe into gyms, go for walks but the habit doesn't stick.

There is one good thing about all of this though, I WILL NEVER STOP TRYING. I have learned so much here about what I really eat and I really need to start excercising. It might take time but I will reach my goal!

    You are now literally on the right "track" I'm glad to hear you are tracking.... it really can be an eye opener and it will definitely help you to do better. I'm also very glad to hear that you won't give up!! As far as the exercise just keep trying different things until you do find that one thing that you can stick to. And remember the one thing the Spark teaches us. You don't have to exercise hard for hours and hours. If for now you can just do ten minutes a day... that's great and I would bet once you start that ten minutes will get longer. Keep Sparking. Glad to know you are doing well!! emoticon

    I can completely relate to this! i joined SparkPeople in January and I thought, "this is it! I"m going to stick to this!" Then life got in the way and I have been away for a month. I too found that I was eating above and beyond what I really needed, even though I thought I was making "smart choices." My portion sizes were just out of control. Now after the passing of my grandmother, I feel this renewed commitment. I always seem to fall of the bandwagon, but when you get back on you know that it is important to always keep trying. I feel that as long as you are being conscientious of what you are putting into your body, the rest of it will fall into place. This time, I'm taking baby steps rather then just jumping in feet first. This week I'll focus on tracking every bite I put in my mouth. Next week, I'll start adding in some exercise. We should always be a priority, never an option. That's how I'm looking at it this time! Best of luck to you!
