Day 1

Lent for me (Greek Orthodox) started yesterday and I figured it was as good a time as any (post St. Patrick's Day!) to get going on my goals. Hence "Day 1."

So I tracked food (and realized I forgot to log some stuff, oops... tough to get back into the habit) and got on the exercise bike for a half hour. It felt good to "get back into it." I need to remember that. I did a good job getting 30 lbs off after the pregnancy by last September, but I've put it all back on, sadly.

But moving onward...

Lots of new stuff on the horizon. I am now the mom of a toddler. She is starting a new school two days a week starting next week which I'm a bit nervous about (but happy that I got an email today letting me know school was closed due to snow - her old school that she's currently enrolled in didn't). We've also hired two of the teachers (a mother and daughter) from her old school to come to the house three days a week (each taking a different day). She loves them, and I'm happy that she will have more attentive care (and outdoor time) most of the week and still have the benefit of other children around some of the time.

I have been recommended for a permanent job! Right now I am still accepting clients at my office and writing freelance for a website and a law firm. It's a frenetic lifestyle made even crazier by having to drive her to daycare all the time and working nights at the office sometimes. I should be getting an offer letter soon, and I most likely will accept the job and keep one of my writing jobs and take the occasional client. It will be nice to have a little stability in my life and it will also be nice to come home to a clean house and a (hopefully) happy little girl every day.

Jon and I went looking at bikes this weekend since we should be getting our tax refund soon. It excites me to have a new activity to do together as a family, so hopefully we can do that this spring! I've decided to restart Couch to 5K tonight and I know it won't be pretty, but my goal is to do a 5K in June and a 10K in October.

That's basically it! Hope everyone is doing well.
