Cold and colds

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

Today it's still in the single digits this morning and windy. The snow is sticking around and with this weather, I just can't walk the park because of frostbite fears. I have to keep the windows closed so the heat works.

I have been ready to spring clean for about a month now, but this weather is just not cooperating. I know that in MN it can be cold and snowy into April some years and the funny thing is that Easter is going to be early this year. I feel sorry for the kids that will be egg hunting in the snow.

I was feeling better the last week, but now the throat is scratchy and it's getting hard to swallow again. My husband still hasn't kicked his cold that has been bothering him the last month, but fortunately the kids seem fine for now. The weather isn't helping my tiredness, I think because it's been so cold so long this year and I haven't been able to get out, my vitamin D levels are low again.

Because of the weather, we've been sicker this winter than usual and I'm just done with it. Some days I wish I were a bear so I could hibernate until the nice weather comes back.

So I guess it will be soup and sleep again today. I know I'm not the only family catching a large amount of colds this year. I guess the kids won't get perfect attendance again.

It's hard to believe that last year we were in the 80's. I miss my walks too. I like hearing the birds sing, and all the changes the closer spring gets. Supposedly, spring begins tomorrow.

I hope you feel better soon. This far south we don't get much snow, but the wind gusts literally were blowing me off the road yesterday. I quit and went to the gym.

    Take care of yourself.

Oh I know.... snow, snow, snow, and it's still snowing right now and it's not suppose to get out of the 40's all week. Please bring on spring. Get some rest and I hope you are all felling better soon. emoticon

I think this year the colds have been circling and reappearing so often do to this horrid winter we have been having, I'm with you on so being down with all this continuing snowfall and cold weather. I know last year was an exceptionally mild winter and early warm weather; however these temps continually to be below what the norm for now is unacceptable in my book. Hope you feel better dsoon, get the rest you need and hope the children stay cold free.

It's definitely time for Old Man Winter to move on! Hope you feel better soon. In the meantime, listen to your body and rest when you need to!

Do you supplement with Vitamin D? There's a lot of clinical research that indicates Vitamin D deficiency can make one more susceptible to getting the flu or cold. And it appears that Vitamin D deficiency is very widespread in the US. I live in Phoenix, AZ but even I supplement with Vitamin D (although I am not the average Arizona sun worshiper -- cover up my skin most of the time).

Wishing you a speedy recovery! And sending you some extra sunshine from Arizona emoticon

Sorry about the colds. Hope the weather improves soon for you. We're expecting snow again tomorrow. I keep reminding myself the more it snows now the less I have to water later. Hope you all feel better soon

It's been quite a year for colds - I am so sorry to hear that you are feeling the scratchy throat coming on, and that DH has been under it for so long now. I am fighting it tooth and nail - with parent conferences this week and a new unit in science next week, I can't afford to get sick.
Take care! And hopefully those Vitamin D levels will pick up soon.

Sorry you are sick and the weather is cold. The common cold is miserable and I hope you get well soon! Spring is coming on its own schedule -- but it will be here emoticon
