It's OK to rest...UGH!

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

It's ok to rest a day, I keep telling myself. Easier said than done, now. I'm in the zone...I can't skip a day now! But I must listen to my body and what it's telling me. I will compromise...Promise I will stop more frequently, take more breaks, limit my workout hours today. I will do my 5.000 steps, strength training, stationary bike, and finally whatever the boot camp video is for today. Then I will see what my body is telling me. I will not exercise pass noon so I can relax for the rest of the day. Thinking today might be a treat myself day. Maybe go see a play tonight to support the local high school just to get out of the house.

I've learned over my years at Spark that you have to listen to your body, and rest when needed, but there are some days I ignore those signals and I am sorry for it the next day.

I enjoyed watching this documentary on HULU.com...Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead while exercising on my stationary bike. I actually sat still after 40 mins into the program. Before I realized it I sat idled on the couch until it was over then it hit me, that was first time since I began this journey. It was great!

I only did 67 mins of workout yesterday, that's my lowest yet, still a good feat. I have a feeling today will be even less. Up all night with TERRIBLE pain in my leg and back and side...where I had surgery. Will get my walking in today and perhaps boot camp video for today. and call it quits....will play it by ear today.

Being stubborn is one of my traits/flaw. But once in a while I can exercise common sense, sometime, after the fact. emoticon

Working out is great but rest is equally important. Sometimes I find it hard to take a break too. But without proper rest, we will most probably do ourselves more harm than good. In view of this, it is more than OK to take a break now and then.
