Heavy snow is predicted. We believe it when we see it. DH and I will clear it together this time.

Monday, March 18, 2013

Today was busy. Just in case we have heavy snow I needed to go grocery shopping. I had very little time over the weekend so I had to catch up. We went to the grocery store and the library and then home.

After lunch we DH desk back to its proper place in the basement. It is very heavy so we had to empty out as much as we could and remove the drawers. I was able to vacuum beneath it and in the area with the desk I have to vacuum the walls because I had carpeted them too.
It sound proofs the area and it is so very easy to clean and to use as a notice board. It was a stroke of genius when I realized the room sizes were wasteful with the carpet we bought so I asked the man if he could put carpet on the walls.
He jumped at the opportunity and he was kind enough to charge us very little. Since then several people have asked him to do it that way.
DH was not really on board but since I am the one in the basement most of the time he gave no objection. Now his desk is there and he has thumb tacks all over the place and he loves it.

I was able to vacuum all the bed room carpets today. They came up very well and I was really pleased I will not need to clean them till fall. That way the summer soils will go when the carpet cleaners come in.
I have given up on it, I am too old for that plus the shampoo has to be non allergenic so they can do it and we will hopefully be able to get out for the weekend.

I bought 8 pounds of sweet potatoes today. I do a lot with those and I was getting low on them in the freezer. I cooked them in the microwave and now it is all mashed ready to go in to the fridge over-night. I use them for sweeteners in chocolate flavored muffins with lots of dried fruit DH loves them. I use the puree to add to soups and stews.

Now it is bed time. I did work out with my resistance bands and I used the gazelle. After the vacuuming and moving the desk I decided I was staying in-side it was a cold day so I did some gazelle.

I found a way to get to my SKY DRIVE or whatever it is. Then I was able to get to my e-mail accounts again so I dragged an icon on to the task bar and so far it is working.
It worries me because I do not want to use Face book and I keep seeing a log-in page for me. I wish it could be removed but they leave it there and if I click on it I am back on face book.

Now the house is looking good. emoticon
Our daffodils have buds and I am wondering if they will survive the snow, they usually do. I am off to bed HUGS.

Pat, I remember seeing daffodils in the snow. I think they will survive. Let me know how you store sweet potatoes. I only buy like two at a time. DH and I eat one between us. HUGS, Terry

Our daffodils still have not bloomed. They usually survive if the buds are not open.

We may get some snow tonight/tomorrow and then Thursday/Friday and maybe Saturday. I'm tired of it. Time for spring!

You can have my share of sweet potatoes in this world.. I have never liked them,, only about four types of veggies I will not touch,, that is one..

That was a great job getting that desk downstairs..they are so clumsy!!
It has bee snowing here all day,, stopped for an hour, but now, at 4 pm, it is going again..
I am considering getting one of those Silver Bear snow scoops.. I checked online and they are now $78.50 with free shipping, plus you can get optional wheel kit for it for $14.99..

how long has yours lasted Pat?

    Pat,

I thought you weren't posting over the weekend because I didn't get any alerts of a new one, then pulled up your page and there you are. I wonder why that happened. Hmmmmmm

Your pancake recipe sounds really good except for the chocolate bits. I think I would like a strusel topping (brown sugar and walnuts) instead. Will look to see if I have all the ingredients and give it a try and let you know how they turned out.

This afternoon I am helping my friend pack for her move to our building this weekend. I will bring her kitchen boxes and whatever else I can load into my Jeep Cherokee. I brought a big load of yarn last week. Trying to get boxes out of the way before her family converges with the U-Haul and everything gets muddled up.

Our temps are warming up and the rain has stopped for now.

Yes Pat we are getting a lot of snow again. It is too bad because our yard was almost comepletely bare. I was hoping that there wasn't going to be no more snow, but that did not work.

Carpeting your walls in the basement was a great idea. Your right it does help to sound proof it too. Glad that your husband likes it.

Glad you got out to get your groceries. We did the same thing too. Like you we are not planning to go out until everything quiets down.

I hope that your flowers survive. We had some that were starting to come up too.

Hope you have a great day. Stay warm and safe.

Love Dot

Whew! Good for you! You accomplished a lot. HOpe you don't get lots of snow. It snowed all day yesterday, but didn't amt. to too much. And it was light fluffy snow. Not that ANY snow is good, IMHO, but at least easy to remove! Even took time to make snow angels. WooHoo. Probably looked a little insane out there, but it was fun!! HEE HEE

A good day for you. Were the sweet potatoes at a lowered price? I must see what uses I can do with them. (in baking, muffins, soups and stews) great ideas.

We both are getting snow, makes everything look so nice and clean. It started around 3:30PM; and stopped for a bit....snowing again. Two and a half inches so far; will see total by morning.

Checked out your Flap Jacks......I can almost smell them cooking. Shall try them soon. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

It doesn't sound like there will be early flowers in our hometown as the blizzard is raging!! WE at in the south for the winter and temps broke records today. On the other end of the spectrum of an even 100 degrees.

I have seen and heard of carpeting on the walls and I think it is a good idea. Just have never done it in our home. The idea of using it as a pi up board works well too. Don't work too hard after the snows!!
