Sinus surgery is complete! Everything is smelling good!

Monday, March 18, 2013

I took my iPod Nano to work last night so I could repeat my walk from the night before to see exactly how far I walked for my long walk to the restroom and back. It ended up being 0.42 miles and since it covered 2 floors I ended up going up and down a total of 200 steps to just get over to the restroom on the same floor and get back to the pharmacy. Obviously, I repeated my restroom trip and it took me 9 minutes to walk it.

When I got home tonight from getting hubby's prescription filled after surgery I took the doggies on a walk around 1 block (back to back - little one first and we actually ran 3/4 of that one, and then the older one - running only 1/4 of it) for a total of 0.62 miles in 11 minutes. My total exercise today was 20 minutes and a good amount of walking.

Hubby had sinus surgery this afternoon. Everything went well, it just took quite awhile because he had so much in his sinuses that the doctor had to clear out. The front sinus under his right cheek was completely filled with a fluid-filled cyst and then I think the doctor cleared out all of the other sinus cavities. He was able to use a balloon procedure on the ones in his forehead to clear those out which made it a lot less invasive. Hopefully the recovery goes well and he is able to get back to work within a few days.

I made everyone bacon and hashed brown potatoes with scrambled eggs for supper tonight and hubby loved the food. He hasn't been able to REALLY taste or smell for the past 3 years, just occasionally, and he said he could taste almost the entire dinner tonight. Of course, he hasn't eaten since supper last night so I'm not sure if it was ALL the fact that he could taste! LOL

I took tonight off from work but still have to work tomorrow night. Since Ed's doing so well I think I will try to head to bed soon - I only slept for about 2.5 hours this morning before heading to the hospital. Thank GOD for coffee today!! Good thing I drink it black so it was calorie-free liquid. I hope I balanced it out enough with water.

Wow! I couldn't imagine not being able to taste or smell for three years! Both of my brothers can't smell but one can taste, which I never understood because I thought tasting and smelling go hand in hand.

I am so glad your hubby is better. That sounds like a great workout at work. Drink lots of coffee and hit the bathroom several times :)

With his sinuses full he could not even smell his food so that it would not taste good either. Your smell has allot to do with how you eat your food too.
