Setbacks versus Failures

Monday, March 18, 2013

Motivational Quote of the Day: "A setback is when you slip up, get busy, or become distracted from your goals. A failure is when you decide your health isn't worth the effort." From the Motivational Spark Pages.

This week is definitely going to be a challenge. My husband is out of town for two weeks, I work every day along with going to a conference at the end of the week, and along with that, my daughter has been sick all weekend-yikes!

I have been striving to make it to the gym four days a week. On average I've been making it 3 days a week. This week, I don't think I will be able to make it at all due to child care issues. I'm going to do my best to build work outs into my routine at home as much as I can--use the stairs more, park far away at work, stores, etc. and maybe some stretches while I watch t.v. after my daughter goes to bed. I have Zumba dvds that I used to do, but since my back surgery, I'm not comfortable doing that right now. I just need to remind myself that just because I have to stray from my normal exercise routine over the past few months, that doesn't mean the rest of my routine that I can control has to fall apart too.

With that said, the other thing that is going to be a challenge is keeping myself from eating late at night out of boredom and lonliness since my husband is out of town. I think I will be on Spark more than ever this week to keep me sane!

Good for you for planning ahead.

I am a big fan of herbal tea before bed. It's relaxing. It has almost no calories. It keeps your hands busy, and lets you feel like you are "eating," but you're not.

Yep, making changes in the schedule is definitely difficult. I know with me just starting work, life is hard to adjust. You'll get there! Just keep pushing! emoticon Tami

Yoga stretches at night will give you something else to focus on other than eating and help you relax before bed. Staying connected with your support group will also help you keep on keeping on. You can do it!
