Challenges, Spark Coach, Fitbit

SparkCoach wants me to blog today about the improvements I have had in my life since I've adopted healthier habits. But I have not blogged in about a week and it seems like I might have a few things to say other than that!

First, I have been super busy, but I have been getting in MORE exercise than before. I have continued walking at lunch time and since it is still daylight when we get home, I have been walking with my husband each night after work.

I still have a ton of things to get done at home but somehow I am managing. I am also in the second week of my 28 day boot camp challenge, so I have been doing some strength training each night. I was so hesitant to start that challenge but now I have to say that it is AWESOME! I am very happy I did it. I had been trying to incorporate strength training into my fitness but wasn't doing a good job of it. Now I am doing a little bit every day. And a little bit is a great start for me! I am doing an eating challenge as well. I am working on eating better, though that is a really huge challenge with my dietary issues. But I am pleased with that too.

As far as my Fitbit goes, sometimes it is just plain weird. I usually trust it but some days, I am just going, "Say What?" For example, today I did not go to lunch because the weather was terrible and I was swamped at work. I rarely work through my lunch hour but that is what I did today. I was sedentary pretty much the whole day. I did get up and run up and down the aisle between my desk and the window a few times to check out the weather, especially when we had a tornado warning this morning. But honestly, I did not think I got in any fitness today. So when I got home but before I went on my evening walk, I synced the Fitbit and it said I had 50 minutes of activity in! I just don't get it. So after my walk I checked again and it had added the appropriate amount of time for the walk. Sometimes it just doesn't make sense.

My other challenge, the sleep challenge, that one isn't going as well. I am sometimes getting to bed on time, but even on those nights I am not getting good quality sleep. I am waking up for a variety of reasons and I am not talking about once or twice a night, I am talking about a couple dozen times. It is for various reasons, not just one, but it doesn't matter, I am just getting worn out from this! We got home from work pretty late tonight and I still went on my walk and I have some tasks to complete, but I am going to try to make it to bed on time tonight and I hope that I have sweet dreams!

    I love my FitBit, but sometimes I really wonder if the sleep part it right. It will say I was in bed for 10 hours, but only slept 4 of them! I may wake up a few times, but not 6 hours worth!! It does this quite often with the sleep. The fitness minutes have seemed pretty accurate to me.
