Birthday celebration and fitness inspiration

Monday, March 18, 2013

It was my birthday weekends this weekend and while I went out a lot, I didn't go crazy. I didn't even have one dessert! I drank a good bit Thursday night, but then again, like 30 people showed up to the tiny neighborhood bar where I had my party. Had some bourbon and Fernet vs a million girly drinks. Had to get a Bloody Buddy and a Turkey burger the next day to recover, but then went to the Farmers Market and bought a bunch of Fish and veggies for the next few weeks.
I got a new pair of trainers and some yoga pants from my mom. I have been working out in 1-size-too-big-hand-me-down Timberland sneakers for the past year, so it is nice to have a pair of trainers that actually fit! I was so inspired that I went home during lunch today and worked out for almost the whole hour. I spent the last few minutes scarfing down a salad and went back to work.
I found that while I wanted to lose weight to look better before, the thing that is motivating me now is an activity I love. I started Aerial Dance and apparently have a talent for it. I used to do gymnastics, modern dance, and ballet from the ages of 5 - 17 and I guess my body remembers some of it even thought I am a good bit larger now! I also did ropes courses and rockclimbing in my teens and early 20s. Aerial dance combines all of that. While looking good was an okay motivation, being a better athlete is far more motivating. I want to have prettier mounts, I want to hold myself up with one arm, I want more flexibility... I also want a cuter butt and toned arms, but Tuesday classes are really pushing me to be a better athlete. Plus, working out like that makes me SO HUNGRY, and although I am eating way more, I have still lost weight.
My hipbones are bruised... I cant actually see them, but the fact that they are bruised from the trapeze means that they are getting more prominent, right?
I still tried on a ton of skinny jeans when I was birthday shopping that made me look like a pastel, hipstery michilin man though, so that was no fun, although I found some really cute dresses! One wish thick lace cut outs on the sides (above the belly of course) and it actually looked good! I am not going to drink until Wednesday, and I will eat at home for lunch and dinner. Hope things keep happening!
