The metric equivalent to 13.1 miles.

June 22, 2013?
12 training weeks from March 31, the day I'll start training to run a half-marathon.

New target?
To run 21.097494 km on June 22.

I'll probably be running by myself, unless I decide to organize a local HM event.
What's bizarre about this target is that until a year ago, I've never considered myself a runner. Then last year I trained for and ran 10k, plus. Wasn't *so* hard. I've been following so many distance runners my age here on SP that I figured, "Why not? You've nothing to lose, plenty to gain by trying."

So, here I am, committing myself to my SparkPeople friends and gurus, to train for and, barring unforeseen circumstances, complete a half-marathon distance run in the first half of 2013. There's also a near-by Fall Classic that I'll most likely join come September.

Keep my feet to fire, SparkFriends, just close enough to give me Hot Feet, not burned soles : )

    Ahhh, public commitment, the essential first step in achieving a lofty goal!

Good on you! That's exactly what I did before my first marathon! Told all my family & friends and paid the entry fee....I'd be damned before I didn't run and finish that race!
