Or is it D? No wait I think I'm at H now.
Redoing this office space is ..... well... it is keeping me crazy busy and thinking. Thinking cause I keep having to change how I want, no wait, how I have to do this.
First was the boards ... I wanted wall to wall shelves but would have to get 10 foot boards and then cut down to 9 and a half. And they were like 3 dollars more than the 8 foot boards. So I got the 8 footers.
Then the painting ..... At first I was going to do blocks, but then the paint smell and my ears started messing with me, so I decided it would be best if I just hurried up and got it done. So I did just 4 big wide strips.
Then it rained ... So I couldn't finish sealing the boards outside and our temperature had dropped to below 65 so the sealer wouldn't dry. I had some polyurethane that I was going to use outside, but since it rained and temp dropped I had to go get a different kind of sealant that we could use inside. And with all of my office stuff and books all over my small house there really wasn't room to seal the boards. So hubby said that he would do them one at a time in front of the tv while he watched nascar. (He is such a sweety!)
Then finding the wall studs ..... My trusty stud finder finally decided to die. So I had to do it the old fashion way. Drilled a hole beside the wall outlet to fine the stud then measure every 16 inches and hope that this wall was done right. And to my wonderful surprise it was. I hit a stud every time!
Then the brackets ..... I was just going to attach brackets to the wall, then attach the boards to them. Well the brackets that we got, that we thought would work, did not. We didn't trust them to hold all of the books. So today I had to go buy a track system. ..... *sigh* ...... I'm not crazy about them cause you see this metal strip running up your wall and they can look cheesy. This room is really the dinning room for my house but we use it for the computers and some of my books and craft stuff. It has that old 70's style window opening wall that had the spindles. Notice the word "HAD?" And it's right by the front door, so it's the first room you really see when you come in our front door. It's not like a lot of people come in our front door, most come in through the laundry room which opens up into the messy kitchen. My point is that I wanted these shelves to look like they were floating, not hanging on metal strips. I'm hoping that they wont stand out to much. The wall paint is silver, so hopefully they will just blend in.
Lets see ........ I think that is all of the changes I've had to make for my simple project ... so far.
..... Guess I need to get back in there and start hanging these strips. The good thing is that I don't have to find the studs! And I have been busy, which means that I'm not sitting and eating, and I have been moving a lot. And I'm not as sore as I thought that I would be. Really hoping that I can get this done today. .... That would be so nice!
Hope you guys are having a wonderful day!
P.S. I know that I haven't thanked you guys for reading my silly blogs, hopefully when this is done I get back to doing that. I am reading your comments, and they make me smile and make my cup runneth over!
