It Happened - again

Sunday, March 17, 2013

Hello everyone,

Well, i had to go to town yesterday to get Ev some meds. She promised she'd be careful, but when i got home, she had fallen again. At least she was inside this time and on carpet and not cement. It was the same side as before and her head hit the end table. She was really hurting and didn't try to hide it from me. i think this one really worried her as no one was here to help her. I told her I wouldn't go anywhere else without her ever again. She got her stubborn in place and insisted t could have happened if i was right here. Then I informed her, what if it would have happened right after i left and she would have broken something and couldn't get up, she would have laid there for several hours without help. I think i got through to her, as she isn't trying to change my mind anymore. That and she asked today if she isn't any better by tomorrow if she can go see her doctor again.

So, here i am asking for those continued prayers that have done such wonderful miracles.

Thank you everyone.

Bob

I totally understand your concerns (and hers) about the falls. Are the falls due to just falling as in mis-stepping, or does she blackout? Hope Ev's Doctor can get this figured out for the both of you. Thanks for posting.

Does she have a call button?

More Beta love from this direction! I hope things are better today. I'm trying to be good about checking into the sorority team and updating. I guess it's fortunate we haven't had an onslaught of sisters yet, because you are much better about it than I am.

Oh my gosh!! When I read the title of the blog, I knew what it meant before I even read it. She really needs to go to the doctor TODAY. Stubbornness is stupidity in action when proper choices need to be made. Sorry I am so blunt about it but it is true. I have said the same thing to myself plenty of times.

Sir, I feel sad for you because I know you love her very much but can't really make her do anything she doesn't want to do. I hope she will listen to her friends here in SP and where you live and take care of herself.

I send her and you lots of hugs and love. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Chelsea

Very scary, Bob - and I imagine she will insist she can do some things on her own, which means when she tries to do them without you or someone around is when something's most apt to go wrong!

1) What about a "buddy" system? Will Ev agree to stick to quiet (i.e., sitting) activities whenever you're out?

2) What about having one of those alert buzzers - you know, the kind that people wear around their necks so they can press the button if they fall or hurt themselves? My aunt has had one for several years, and not until two weeks ago has she needed to use it - it was a lifesaver when she needed it, though. I think hers is called something like "Lifeline," but I'm sure your local medical people could give you information.

Meanwhile, emoticon to Ev, and to you too!

Ev, there's a point where being stubborn can cause serious risks to your health. There are lots of stories of people who were stubborn and if they had been checked out right away they would've been okay. Falls are not to be taken lightly! Look at me - I'm 31 and yet the doctors ask me about falls because of my conditions and know it's dangerous for me to fall. You hit your head, twice, and that's crazy dangerous to be stubborn about. The more often you hit your head in a short length of time the exponentionally more dangerous it is.

Bob, is there a chance of getting someone to come to the house and help out when you need to be gone? Also, how about 'Ev-proofing' the house and making sure there aren't things around to trip on or easily fall against?
