A New Approach

Sunday, March 17, 2013

I am 24 years old. I teach English Learners in a MN high school. This is my first year of teaching and I spend about 65 hours at school each week. My boyfriend lives across the country. I am a former 2 sport varsity athlete, and I would LOVE to get back into coaching gymnastics. I'm learning how to run for the first time, and not hating it. I have Type 1 Diabetes and Celiac Disease. I need to try something new.

I gained a fair amount of weight when I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease, almost 2 years ago. I'm down 12 lbs from my heaviest (yay!) and I have about 18 to go. About. I'm not sure what my goal weight is. I've thought about my goals in different ways.

Short-term goals:

I want to get under the 140 lb mark.
I want to run a 5k.
I want to figure out a system for eating healthier meals.
I want to track my blood sugar levels and get them to start coming down.

Longer-term goals:

I want to have to buy new pants.
I want to run a 10k.
I want an A1C below 6.5.

Very long-term goal:

I want to WANT to wear a bikini (for the first time in my life).

Here we go!
