What changes have I made this week?
Well, I changed my work out schedule. I still do my strength first thing after waking, but cardio gets done later in the day. I have finally been able to start riding my bike more consistently, and when at home, I prefer to ride between the hours of noon and 2 p.m. The traffic is not as heavy.
I changed my HRM settings. The last weight setting on it was 182 lbs. I like to adjust it every 5lbs, so I was actually over due.
I changed how I look at housekeeping. This was a big one. I grew up with clutter. Make a new pile of stuff when you clear an area of the pile you have made earlier. The pile would move from place to place, gathering more stuff. I am tired of piles. I have cleaned the entire downstairs, and I am making a daily effort to keep it looking nice. I have given up on the other people I live with doing their “fair share” of maintaining the neatness. So I have made a schedule to help me keep everything neat, without having to spend hours on house work.
I have changed how I “fill the silence” when I am at home. Instead of turning on the TV, I have started to listen to the radio. Instead of trying to see what is going on, I can just listen, and it encourages me to move more. A favorite song comes on, and I start to sing along and dance around a little.
Little changes, to be sure, but isn’t that how we should do it?
In other news…
I did not lose any weight this week, but I didn’t gain either. Considering I had a net loss of 3.8 lbs last week, I feel I am doing good, and there is still time to make my 1st quarter goal of 20 lbs down.
My boss surprised me Friday with a Pikake Lei (a species of Jasmine) and a card for my birthday. I wasn’t expecting it, because my birthday isn’t until Tuesday. She gives everyone a card on their birthday, but I usually get mine in the mail. She also usually gives us two movie tickets, so I figured I’d go see a movie this coming week. I got the surprise of my life when I opened the card and there was $100 instead of the tickets. She also wrote me a note praising me on my performance at my new position. I really have a great boss. I am going to use that to treat myself. Target has Yurbuds Sport headphones on sale and Maxi Dresses and Skirts. I am taking vacation this week, so after I leave work today, I won’t have to be back until the29th, so that will be a nice break.
Here’s to a great week.
