March Goals - the halfway point update...

Sunday, March 17, 2013

Happy St. Patrick's Day SparkFriends!
emoticon emoticon emoticon

March is flying by and I wanted to take a moment to review my March goal progress.

* 1000 fitness minutes.
emoticon Well. I'm a little behind. I'm sitting just over 400. I haven't been moving as much since I've been working more. I finished two major projects last week. My work schedule should ease up for the rest of the month. I know in the long-term I need a solution that isn't impacted by my work hours increasing. OK. Let's be honest. I know the solution. Better planning, scheduling and ditching the all-or-nothing. Little movements do add up.

* Water, water, water.
emoticon Not too shabby. I've definitely done better with my intake. There is still room for improvement though. I can say that it does make a huge difference. On those days where I'm drinking steadily I've noticed my cravings are non-existent and my energy is up. Just gotta remind myself to drink throughout the day.

* Back to the plank.
emoticon My goal is 4 days a week. I've worked on this 4 times in two weeks. Grrr... There is no excuse. Just haven't made it a priority.

* More planning and packing.
emoticon This has been a HUGE help as I've had to work more and my schedule has been crazy. I didn't nail it everyday but improved great leaps and bounds from last month. I've actually enjoyed the time spent on Sunday's cooking. It's such a load off my mind knowing I've got food ready to go for the week.

* Register for a 5K.
emoticon I'm down for the May 18th Rails to Trails 5K in my area. There is a walk and a run. I'm giving myself 4 weeks to determine which group I'm going to be in. I want to be in the run (well, slow jog) group.

I hope everyone is conquering their goals and having a great month! See ya at the finish!

    A big mistake people make when trying to get healthier is that when they fall off a bit or something happens,
they think they "have to start over". Wrong! When missteps do happen, a better strategy is to simply take two steps forward. You’re still ahead of where you were before, far beyond the starting line. sounds like you are following this but its always nice to be reminded. its good you are getting your water in each day. this is one a still struggle with each day. its great you have signed up to do some runs just remember you don't need to be fast just finish the race. emoticon emoticon emoticon miss seeing in the challenges but understand how busy you have been. emoticon emoticon sqy we since this is a team effort one of the first things i remember getting from a spark member is Always remember their is NO I in Team ad this is a a team effort helping each other on the Spark trail

    you have been doing great and helping keep me motivated
Sure you haven't hit all you wanted but you have "Life Happening" and sometimes that just does change our plans a little. I know that you will dust yourself off and get back on track.

(I also suffer from the all-or-none mentality & need to ditch that)
Good Luck on your 5k

    You've made great progress Steph no matter what but add on something as stressful as a move and you are an absolute inspiration!

    Since I began wearing a monitor I'm really moving more. Just standing more, getting out of my chair more. After a few months I realized I could get in a little 15 minute walk in the morning before work, or a 15 minute afternoon stroll. It's making a huge difference. You're SO right - every little bit helps.
