My 3 week soccer run

Sunday, March 17, 2013

Hello everyone!!

I just wanted to update everyone! I'm still alive and kicking! Over the last few weeks it's been extremely tiring, I'm learning a whole new perspective from the soccer coach, (he is a ref also so I'm seeing this side), he has shown me a lot and the girls, well they're 15 and 16 year old girls. The retain some of what coach tells them we both go over things 4 and 5 times for them to get it. We've only had 1 scrimmage to date because the weather has canceled 2 games already, if everything plays right we'll have a game on Thursday with the Varsity group..
The A.D. assumed that I would be the assistant coach for the boys next fall and then again for the girls next spring. I spoke with the coach last Thursday to let him know that this would be my last season coaching, I didn't want to but I have to, it's interfering with my home life too much and she said that next year it will be harder because then we'll be in the state sports program.. He understood because he has 2 kids of his own which are both in the 20's now. Friday I spoke with the A.D. to let her know that I would not be back for next year that when the season is done, my tenure will be done. I did tell her that I would continue to help volunteer for the dept. and the school but I can't be a "full time coach or helper". My 9 year old is having to many problems and I only get to be with her about an hour a day now, because of that I'm starting to have problems with her also. I don't want to be that Mom! Everyone seems to understand the position I have been put into, I just didn't want to do it this soon, but they are already scheduling meetings for this coming week that all coaches have to be at for summer clinics and I'm not going because I don't need to, to be frank..
I'm having fun with the girls and I think they are having fun with me there, I do know that I a lot of the girls think it's cool that's Alyssa's mom is one of the coaches, but it's also caused some problems with some of the other girls because they feel that I placed girls on certain teams when I had nothing to do with that. Any way I just wanted to drop in and give everyone an update! I'm looking forward to this being a fast season because it's been so busy.

Here are a couple of pictures from the two teams, I wanted to share!

Junior Varsity!

Everyone have a fabulous week!

I'll update again soon!

Great pics of the teams Kelly!

It is a great thing that you tried it and really liked it. But as you said family definitely comes first and anyone that doesn't understand that needs to get their heads screwed on right. You can always have opportunities like this but your family is only at this stage in their lives once!

Nice pictures of the young ladies.

That is good that you informed them early enough for them to get a new coach. It is important to spend time with your 9 year - an hour is not enough - being a coach does have so much responsibilities.

Good luck with your game this week. emoticon

Kelly, I sure don't blame you for cutting back to spend more time with your family, especially your 9yr old. I'm sure everyone understands and those who don't......well, that's just too bad!!!!!!

Have a great week and thank you for sharing.

emoticon I am sure that you have been giving your all to both the teams and your family but there are only so many hours in a day. I hope that things settle down with your younger daughter but sometimes they just require that extra time from us. emoticon
