Food for love

Sunday, March 17, 2013

ya know, somedays someone should just send you a memo and tell you how the day is going to go- lol but i cannot complain, i have lost 5 lbs and am making so many amazing friends)- the best part is that i am communicating with people that actually understand- that have walked that road and know where all the pot holes are and where all the great sights are too- and do you know what one of the hardest things to overcome for me is? The people around you- maybe they don't need or want to be healthier, but they do not really encourage and sometimes make it very hard to stay on track- or my sweet hubby will cook for me and its not a salad- lol i know that food has always been a way to show love, to comfort, nurture, and as a mom i so know that by making my children great meals gave me such a happiness, i may not be able to help with other issues ( or i'm the last person they want to talk to certain things about) but taking time to give them a wholesome meal is always such a good feeling cuse at least youre doing something!!!
Noone does anything intentionally and you know their hearts are in the right place- but maybe by making it clear that going out and getting those amazing bagles you love, that you so appreciate the gesture, but my health is the most important thing to me right now- aside form whomever you're talking to, of course and it would be so wonderful and loving of them to be your partner and help by feeding other things that you like- like taking a walk holding hands together, or just walk around the mall window shopping- or buying you flowers or taking them to their favorite events and spending the time enjoying each other- you kinda kill two birds with one stone- you get to spend quality time together and your not eating those oh so tempting bagels!
Love can be shown in so many different ways, and i know that even though those bagels ard soooo killer, spending time with my loved ones and really enjoying the day fill me up so much more!!!!
Hugs to all and God Bless!!!!

So very true! I think sometimes people give food gifts to show love because its habit. I mean every holiday seems to have food attached to it. I like your idea of non-food ways to show love. Great idea!

KLS1966, Wow!!!What an awesome mom!!!! I know its hard working arounf and dealing with food all the time-and also nit having the time for each other can be hard- try to make the most of the few moments you have- even coffee in the morning- coneection is so important- and the way you are connecting with your son is so so amazing!!!! My daughter is the same way ( in college) and she just started going to a gym herself- plus a full time job and school- learning to make time for yourself ( yeah i need to heed my own words- lol) is one of the hardest things to do- but you sound so amazing- you are an inspiration for me- !!!! just always remember- love yourself and make time for you- even a bubble bath with a glass of wine is perfect- ( hubby might love to join you...) and how relaxing for sleep- but do what makes you happy- and cherish those moments with your son and hubby- and hang in there- you're awesome- and i for one am so inspired by you- you work through your challenges with so much positivity and i am going to use that- if you don't mind- :) have a beautiful day!!!!

My Husband and I run a Family Restaurant & Banquet Facility. Time is not something we have much of, especially him, as he is the Manager and needs to be there A LOT! I have been able to cut back in hours so I can be at home more to take care of things, including our 16 year old Son. (Our other Son is gone already and in the Air Force in Guam.) To say the least, we don't have much quality time together. It's hard not getting the support we desire from our Spouses or other Family members. My Son is trying to lose a little weight and in better shape, so he understands me a little better than my Husband. I wanted to be a better example for him and it seems to be working. He and his Buddy are now going to "Planet Fitness" 3 times per week at 5 a.m. before school! Amazing to me for that age. Now if I can get him to eat more vegetables! Thank God emoticon for smoothies . . . I sneak all kinds of stuff in them!

One of my emoticon substituted roller skating as a family thing instead of eating pizza out. It's working for her. She can even stand up now : )
    Have a great week1
