We were planning to head out of town this weekend. I figured that meant no riding until next Monday. Those plans changed, so with no really good reason to not ride, I rode.
It's a windy day. The forecast called for 25-30 mph winds with 40-mph gusts. I planned my route to have the wind at my back during the last part of my ride. It was blissful at times. The first part of the ride included some short climbs I don't do very often. I was pleased with how well my body handled it, despite my weight. I'm going to credit the walking/running I did through the winter for keeping my cardiovascular system in relative decent condition. (Boy, just think how much easier that will be next year, when I'm 30 pounds lighter!) The first part of the ride, I averaged 11.5 mph. The last half, I averaged 14.5 - what a difference the wind makes!
No ride tomorrow. I promise. And maybe it won't be so windy and I can do some yard work. Yeah, that's a little crazy, but it's how my priorities are ordered: too windy to work in the yard? Go for ride!
