Laid low...

Saturday, March 16, 2013

I know I've kind of dropped off the radar, but hopefully I'll be back soon.

The move went well, but was harder than I thought it would be. While I love the peace of this place, the limited closets and storage have proved to be challenging. Adding to all of this, I'm not quite done. Super positive though is Kitty has done no hiding whatsoever in this new place.

The day my Mom left, I worked a full day (on a Sunday) and then took that Monday off. Well, that Sunday night I started getting a sore throat. So, I took Monday to take care of myself. Well, that didn't last too long, but then the virus took hold. By that Thursday, I could barely talk. So, I went to the Dr. that Saturday, who said virus, and gave some prescriptions to help with the congestion and coughing. I've since learned that codine (in the cough syrup) keeps me awake. It basically did nothing. So, for two weeks I've not gotten a solid nights sleep. I finally managed some last night, but that was with Benedryl and I'm still trying to wake up.

Aside from not being able to truly organize my new home, I'm disappointed because I've not been able to exercise. I know my body needs to recover, but honestly, this is week two and while it's better it's not gone. I know this too shall pass, but right now, I'm just muddling through. To add to all of this, I head to a conference tomorrow. I think I'll be okay and hope that I continue to improve while away. I'm looking forward to seeing friends, etc, but a part of me just wants to veg on the couch for a bit. But, such is life.

At any rate, more on the move (and hopefully some pics) after my conference.

I'm glad to hear that Kitty likes the new digs. That's good news. I love your new bright background. As for being so sick, I really feel for you. Codiene can do that to some people, create hyper-awake state. I know it's an old fashioned method and you probably have done it, I use honey when I'm coughing up a lung. I can't take most cold medicines, so I tend to drink weak tea and honey; real lemon juice in hot water with honey. And I know that the medical folks don't do this anymore, I still believe in steaming - getting in the shower and letting the water run over your chest OR sitting on the toilet, letting the hot water steam you really good. At night, lots of Vicks on the chest and all over my face - figure if I'm closing my eyes, then I can slather it on the sinuses. I really hope you get some sleep soon and feel better soon. Wish I could send you real chicken soup; all I have is virtual, the thought is there. Get better soon.

That virus has wiped out my department at work, it's a doozie! Hope you feel better soon, and you'll get back to your workouts once you get back, in the meantime, don't sweat it, just rest to feel better.

    Oh - dear Alexis......
So sorry you caught 'the' bug!!! And it sounds like you caught a big one!
What a shame to get sick at this time ---- but remember, you have nothing but time ahead of while I know you'd like everything put away and in its place, getting well has to be #1 priority-right?
I can relate to Benedryl and its famous hang-over! But I know that getting sleep is very important.
I'm so glad Kitty likes your new home. I remember when i moved into this apt, 23 years ago - I had an orange tabby, Killer, who was really freaked - to move from the only home he'd ever known for 14 years!! But he adjusted - and lived 3 more years......

This is a time to baby yourself.....especially if you're working with this bug. You'll have time to exercise later on.....

    Being sick is the pits!!!
    Get well very soon, kiddo!
    Big hugs -
