All Is Well That Ends Well....

This picture of Mom was taken after I had been there a week or more.
Yes it has been a while since I wrote a blog....life happens.
Christmas found me sick with the upper respiratory and sinus infection. I doctored it myself with over the counter medication and all the good things like chicken soup, fluids and sleep. I was just getting well enough to get something done when I got a call from my sister Liz, who told me Mom had been taken to the hospital with a high fever. At the time that was all she knew. With blood work and test they diagnosed she had a urinary tract infection and it was also in her blood stream....they started her on IV's with high doses of antibiotics. Within a few days she called again and said Mom was doing better.....then the very next day she was worse...with Congestive heart failure...and infection in her lungs. Liz had talked to the Nurses and they felt the family needed to be called in....
I called my Daughter...we made a quick trip to West Virginia and arrived two days later,Sunday evening. Mom looked pretty sick with dark circles around her eyes...she was not talking much but when we walked through the door...she said, "Well there you are ".
Someone stayed with her around the clock....either Liz, Deb, or I. Lots of the time all three would be in the room with her. The hospital was nice enough to give us a room with two beds so we had a place to rest when things were going well. Mom was improving daily. There was still a problem at night with her blood pressure spiking during the night. Over and over this happened .....changing her medication till finally it was under control. I was altogether in West Virginia for two months Part of January, February and a few days of March. I watch go from not being able to get out of bed or feed herself to walking down the length of the hall...all in a matter of two weeks. She was dismissed from the hospital to her assisted living home...and I was able to visit her there.
I know that prayer had a lot to do with her healing.....Mom is 83 years old and had two very serious infections. Either of them could have ended her life.....but by the Grace of God....she is still with us.
This picture of Mom was taken before I left for home.
A couple of weeks before I came home the crud hit me again. I doctored myself for a week but went to the Doctor and he gave me antibiotics. I was well enough to visit Mom the next week. Beth flew up to help drive back with my grandson Jake...
One of the hardest things was to leave her and come back home.....but she is in good hands and my place is here in my home taking care of things ...especially Hubby.
I had lost 4 pounds.....it was either the cold weather or climbing my sisters steps. I lost 2 more since I have been home.
