I Finished the Winter Run Series!

Saturday, March 16, 2013

Today I ran the Luck of the Irish 10K - and finished all six of the Winter Run Series 10Ks! In the photo I am wearing the "I Raced Them All!" hoodie (over all my other layers). I am proud of myself!

The weather was a big part of this race - cold (28), damp and windy. The weather, the hills and repetitive nature of the course made this a challenging race. We skipped some walk intervals in order to stay warm, especially at the beginning. This race for me was just about finishing and earning the sweatshirt. I am persistent (AKA stubborn) that way! :)

And, I have learned that not every race is for every runner. I like fun events - cool names & t-shirts, interesting routes, decent parking. I'm looking forward to the next race - the 2 Pi Mile Run in Madison, WI! It's put on by the Engineering Society and we get pie afterwards! :) And later in the year we'll do again a little but FUN race called the Cheesehead Run.

I'm ready for spring to get here!

Thank you for reading, Friends!

Fantastic job to finish what you set out to do. I, too, like GOOD parking at a race. Fun names and good food after are also a big attraction for me!!

10Ks are not plentiful around Lexington, KY. We do get some, but there are usually no more than 1 per month to choose from. 5Ks, on the other hand are very plentiful! I look for the ones that support good charities and interesting routes - Cool T-shirts are desirable too!

Way to go on finishing the race series! emoticon
