Dr Oz's 3 Day Detox

Saturday, March 16, 2013

Today, I have decided to start the Dr Oz 3 day detox. Basically it is 4 smoothies a day. One for every meal and an afternoon snack. I have been on my version of The Plan for a few weeks and have discovered a lot about my body and have lost and kept the weight off. I thought that I would try this Dr Oz detox because the meals will be easy to prepare, minimizing my meal prep and stress during this moving stage of our lives. Also, everyone that has tried it says that they had a lot of energy and felt great on this 3 day plan. With the bonus of losing around 3 lbs. I could use some of that. My hubby is doing this with me, so I will let you know how we do.

Me: The green tea and lemon slices first thing in the morning were amazing. Very refreshing, but I love lemon and green tea and have both every day.
Hubby: Green tea and lemon was drinkable, not his first choice. But bear in mind, he has never done a detox in his life and his choice for breakfast is an espresso and biscotti.

Me: Breakfast smoothie was very good. The main ingredients that I tasted were the raspberries and almonds. I would make this for a regular breakfast smoothie, even after the detox, but would add some hemp seeds for more protein, as I was hungry by 11:30 am. When I have my hemp seeds with breakfast, I can go until 1:00-2:00 pm before I need to eat.
Hubby: He gave it a 5/10. He was hungry by 10:30-11:00. He thought that it tasted mainly like berries.

Me: The lunch smoothie was a green drink. If you don't like green drinks, you may not like it. I loved it. It was like a very refreshing salad to me. It was thick and I had to eat it with a spoon. It is 674 calories, so this is the biggest smoothie of the day.
Hubby: Had to gag it down. Said it was not pleasant and it felt like punishment. He says that his stomach is rumbling now in protest.

Stay tuned....I will let you know how the dinner smoothie goes. I feel great right now. Hubby is complaining bittery. I told him that he didn't have to do it, but he wants to stick it out because he has never done a detox before and he sees my enthusiasm for it and wants to experience it to see if it makes any difference in how he feels.

Oh and PS- I gave a Tbsp of the lunch smoothie to my dog with his regular food and he loved it! emoticon

You are so lucky that your husband would try this. Mine would never do something like this!

I don't suppose you could post the recipes for these smoothies? I'm too lazy to look them up on the internet

How interesting! I am really glad you are writing down your thoughts as well as your husbands thoughts. I will be very interested to know what you both think once it is all over. Do you make the smoothies or buy the smoothies?
