Taking Beauty Home

Saturday, March 16, 2013

Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful , we must carry it with us or we find it not." Ralph Waldo Emerson

In my younger years we were lucky enough to travel. I saw the beautiful coastline of Acadia National Park Maine, the majesty of the Smoky Mountains. We stayed in a cozy chalet in the mountains with such beautiful gardens and a small trout river that weaved through the property. The had gazebo's to sit in and hammocks to lay in. Then we met some colorful American Indians and I learned to love buffalo burgers.

We stayed in a condo with a fireplace on a ski slope in Vermont. Climbed our way up to Mount Washington in a car when I was 8 months pregnant. Spent a week in a rented trailer home right on Myrtle beach. Spent a week every summer at beautiful Missaquimicut Beach Rhodes Island.

We saw the beautiful coastline of Florida beaches right before we got on our cruise ship. My husband and I took a week cruise among the Hawaii Islands. Then we were lucky to stay a week on Maui for our honeymoon. We traveled the road to Hana . Saw many state parks and trails and waterfalls. Went horse back riding for eight hours in Volcanic National Park We took a helicopter ride. . Saw river grotto's huge waves , beautiful scenery We saw a banana , pineapple coconut, sugar and coffee plantations. And met some really nice friendly people . We had the time of our lives.

We spent a week in a log cabin on the beach in Canada. We saw the beautiful Cabot trail. Scary but oh so beautiful. We saw New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edwards Island.

We spent a week with the children in a resort in Mexico . My kids held Iguanas . Had there pictures taken with native dancers and musicians . Days were spent lounging by the pool and beaches and nights listening to exotic Mexican music outside under the stars.

We took numerous cruises with the children to Saint Thomas the Virgin Islands , Aruba,Grand Caiman's, Barbados to name a few . All beautiful .

In each place we visited we filed the beauty and the adventure in our brains . We have pictures and little mementos to remember each trip. When things get gloomy it is great to remember the good times and the beauty. As a family we so love the water.
I painted our bedroom and the computer room the color of the sea. We have many seashells in every room of our home to remind us of the oceans beauty . We have pictures hung in our living room of the kids and our cruises. We have a hanging mobile of sea shells from Hawaii. Pictures of dolphins and whales and beautiful beaches.

Wherever you go whatever beauty you get to see and experience always hold a token in your heart and mind then you can go back and recapture the adventure.

That is why they say it is best to exercise out doors in nature. You will capture that feel good feeling and want to take it with you wherever you go.
If you have no money to travel , I here you, you can still bring the Islands home from your grocery store. Buy papayas and coconuts, pineapples and star fruit. Buy some Kona coffee or pure cane sugar from Hawaii. Keep saving those pennies the trip of a lifetime awaits you it is just around the corner.
Please tell me of the beautiful places you have seen , or would want to visit. We can all travel together and hold the beauty in our hearts.

Wow, Joanne! This is one of the most beautiful blogs I have read on Sparkpeople ever! Your descriptions of all your trips are just marvelous! I'm so happy for you that you've had so many incredible traveling experiences, and the happy memories to go with them. You truly have found a place to go to in your mind when you need solace, and I love the fact that you have painted rooms in your house to match the sea, in order to help you commune with those peaceful feelings. Just gorgeous!

I can't wait for the weather to warm up here so that I can start spending more time outdoors, as I don't think I'll be able to afford a vacation any time soon, lol!

Happy St. Patty's Day! emoticon emoticon

Loved the blog Joanna. I was a traveller in my youth

to and decided to write my own blog as it woudn't be
fair to put everything on yours. So if anyone is interested,
you can read my blog. Travel opens ones eyes and makes
one realise taht we are lucky to be where we are, even with
our struggles to live comfortably today, we are so much
better off than alot of people in many parts of the world.

We've been to the Hawaiian islands 5 times and love the road to Hana. We took an Alaskan cruise, visited Vancouver, Rome, Florence, Paris, Geneva, Monte Carlo, Cancuc, Cabo San Lucas, San Diego, Munich, Hanover and several other cities in Germany, New Orleans, Scottsdale,Denver. All of these were company trips years ago. We had such fun. But I still would love to see Washington, DC and New York. Maybe someday.

I too have been very lucky to have traveled.
My family camped up and down the east coast from Maine to Florida.
I got to stay with my Grandparents in Ft. Myers Flordia for a summer and went to Sanibel Island.
I traveled on business all throughout the Western US. Colorado, Utah, Montana, Oregon, Caulifornia, Washington State, Idaho, Nevada
My DH and I relocated to the Seattle area and boated for 14 years and saw so many wonderful things that you can only get to by boat. Many things normal folks don't get to see. Pods of killer whales, etc.
My DH took me and my parents to Hawaii to proposed marriage...we too did road to Hana...long ride.
Have been on several cruises...Panama canal, Bermuda, Bahamas, Jamacia, etc.
Went on a Greek Island cruise.
    Went to Greece, Italy, Turkey.
    Yes, many fond memories.

emoticon blog Joanne, we hope to move to Norfolk before long just to be by the sea. I already have it in my head to bring flotsam and jetsam into the house and pebbles/shells/dried seaweed.
Our front room will be a shine to the beach!
