I'm so bad...

... at badminton! Really, I'm terrible. Every now and then I see some sliver of improvement, but overall, I will probably stay bad unless I commit to playing every day, which is difficult for several reasons, the two biggest being that 1) I don't have the time/partner/access to facility to do it every day, and 2) it would take away from time I use to do other athletic activities I love, like running and hiking and cycling.

Oh well, I will be a recreational player, and maybe in a couple years I'll be moderately competitive.

This summer, some friends have expressed interest in mountain biking. I am totally excited, because I am the "mountain biker" in the group, even though it's been a couple years since I did any real MTB. I'm excited to have people to go with me, and since I have my new Garmin watch that tracks GPS, I won't have to worry so much about getting lost on the trails.

I'm just really looking forward to all my fitness options coming up. I did a run yesterday afternoon, and totally enjoyed the sun and scenery. It's getting to be tourist season so I had to dodge lots of people on the sidewalks, but I told myself I was showing them what it's really like here. People run! Maybe it will encourage someone to try it. Something "sparked" me to try badminton (and now more MTB), and it has made a real difference.
