So. I have a four mile race next Saturday. Shouldn’t be a problem, should it? But of course it is. It is because I’m a slacker. It is because I have not been doing much for cross training. It is because that’s not a fanny pack on my belly. That’s my belly.
Yesterday I took Fiona and Bozko out on a short run. Fiona, of course, wanted to run 65 mph, especially since this was the first time we’ve brought Boz with us. Bozko is younger and faster but Fee is in charge, so she needs to stay in front.
After about a tenth of a mile I had them both reigned in enough we could continue without my arms being continually jerked out of my shoulders.
It wasn’t SO bad. Nice to be out in warm weather, mud on the road, but not so bad. Except for the worry that Boz would chase a squirrel and wondering how far I’d get dragged before I remembered to drop the lead! Except for that one toe starting to hurt again! And except for that back fat flapping like a set of wings.
I have a few things to get working on before my next half marathon in October. Getting some miles under my belt. Getting that blasted callous off my toe! Getting my food choices back under control. Getting some cross training figured out. Getting those wings clipped!
So. A plan! Finally, a plan!
