Adventures in dog walking

Friday, March 15, 2013

(from Kona's viewpoint) oooh there's a CAT ooooh there's DEER .....generalized static.... my view - later she once again wanted to get to the ranch dogs in spite of the fact that I am sure that barking describes the horrible things they will do if they get ahold of her.... next up is the old bulldog and the new puppy who followed us 1/2 way down the next road so we brought her back which was interesting while I held Kona off so she didn't play too RUFF and rip off the puppy's head. Entertained later by a horse and cows gamboling along the fence next to us.... trust me Bessie is not the graceful picture she pictures in her head when she dances by.... watched 2 heron hunt mice in a field which brought back graphic memories of Jeeves the Heron hunting chipmunks in a campground... all rounded out by two tiny dogs with big dog self esteem until faced with Kona the barbarian...
All in a 3 mile walk with the dog, great for getting your heartbeat up!

We have a cat for the first time now. We always before had one dog at a time. The cat is fun to watch, too. The one thing he does not do is lap up food spills on the kitchen floor the way the dogs did. Darn.

Aren't dogs such fun! I was walking my 37 pound chow mix this afternoon when this little furball who couldn't have weighed more than 5 pounds comes charging at her. Her owner was cringing because she just knew my dog would eat her up. Instead my dog was like "mom, there's this furry thing under me, what's happening?" Turns out the little fur ball was using my dog as an escape! She hid under my dog. Wish I had gotten my phone out and snapped a picture. Anyway it took a little doing but we "rescued" fur ball and her owner was happy. You just never know. Dogs are so much fun. Sounds like you had an interesting walk too! Have a fantastic weekend!
