Couch-to-5K & Stretching

This week, I decided to start the C25K challenge. Today, I just finished the first week. I can honestly say that I feel awesome. I love running. It takes me to a very relaxing place. I'm so grateful for living in an apartment complex that has a fitness room with a treadmill. I do not need to go get a gym membership nor do I have to feel embarrassed for things jiggling. LOL! Despite the jiggling, I am determined to be a C25K Graduate!

I will be planning on doing some 5Ks this year. In April, I will be doing the Race for the Cure 5K. Tomorrow, I will be doing a 4-mile Shamrock Walk/Run with a Spark Buddy. I will be walking this one though. But, before I know it, I will be able to run that 5K without the need to walk. I cannot wait. I will be registering to do more 5Ks this year. For example, there is the Dirty Girl Mud Run on May 18th, which I may do with the same Spark Buddy. On June 22nd, another friend wants me to do the Sickle Cell Walk/Run with her.

With the running, I need to invest in some new running shoes as well as some knee sleeves. I will be doing some preventative maintenance for my knees by icing them after my runnings!

Then, with one of my Spark challenges, we had a stretching challenge. So, I pulled out my old Slim in 6 DVD, because it has a great stretching program on it. This challenge has definitely helped me especially after running and strength training. My hamstrings were so tight. Can you say ouch? I will continue to do this challenge, because stretching is so important. So, thanks to my 2013 Winter Into Spring 5% Challenge Spark Team! Love this challenge and this group!
