One of our challenges this week is to read 4 spark articles and share my thoughts with my team. So here goes...
I read "Lose Twice the Weight by Tracking Your Food".
This is a study that was done using the DASH diet, but it rings true with any diet format you choose. I have noticed that on weeks that I track my food, I lose weight - usually 2 - 4 pounds. On the week that I didn't keep track of my food, I didn't lose a thing. I don't always have time to visit the chat rooms or do a lot on spark, but I do now try to at least get on to track my food for the following day. The planning a day ahead helps a lot too.
"Sleeping Better for a Healthier Heart"
I knew a poor night's sleep affected good health, and it makes the next day incredibly loooonnnngggg, but I didn't know that being sleep deprived made you 48% more likely to develop heart disease!! There are a whole other slew of things that poor sleep contributes to - including obesitity. I guess I need to wind down and start getting a good night sleep!
"Seven Hidden Ways to get better sleep"
Basically 7 things like routine, environment, food intake, that help you to sleep better. In a perfect world, when you can establish a routine and such, they would be helpful tips.
"31 days to stronger bones"
Really good ideas to keep osteoporosis at bay, and keep those bones strong.
