I signed up for a virtual 10K here on SparkPeople for tomorrow. There is a whole group of people - all running virtual races -- meeting near my home at 6am. Some are running 4 miles, some the 10K, and some a half marathon. Many of the people have signed up with sponsoring organizations for good causes, I'm sure. Many will get medals mailed to them after they send in documentation. Many of them are submitting entry fees larger than paying for SparkCoach for a full year. I will be delighted to run a FREE SparkPeople virtual 10K. Wish SP offered virtual half marathons, too. Maybe someday.
I'm planning to run 4 minutes-walk 1 minute throughout. This morning I had a broken watch band on my Ironman interval timing watch and my new Garmin Forerunner10 wouldn't do a thing -- was totally stuck and unresponsive to any button being pushed. I didn't want to be without an interval timer for tomorrow's race. I went back to my running shop, FitNiche. They confirmed my new Garmin wasn't acting right and gave me another one. I have it charging. Hope I can get it set and use it successfully tomorrow. We'll see.
If I'm still feeling strong at the end of the 10K , I may slow down and run farther. Time will tell. Hoping for a good night's sleep. I need to check the weather, lay out my clothes and equipment. I had a great 20 lap swim at the Y this morning per my training plan. I didn't have any sore muscles or problems after my yesterday's faster than usual run. I'm excited about becoming a stronger runner!
